SWS Announces the Second Edition of the International “Excel” Conference on Women’s Sports Medicine and Sciences and Invites Research Contributions

Sharjah Women’s Sports has announced the opening of submissions for research papers for the upcoming edition of the International Conference on Women’s Sports Medicine and Sciences, “Excel,” scheduled to take place on 7 February 2026 at Al Razi Hall, University of Sharjah. The conference is organized as part of the accompanying events of the eighth edition of the Arab Women’s Clubs Tournament.

“Excel” is recognized as a specialized international scientific platform dedicated to bridging academic research with applied practice in women’s sports. The conference brings together leading academics, researchers, and experts in sports medicine and sports sciences, alongside coaches, referees, and professionals engaged in advancing women’s athletic performance across the Arab world and beyond.

The 2026 edition of the conference focuses on the theme “Integrating Movement into Education,” positioning physical activity as a contemporary scientific approach to enhancing holistic health and quality of life. The theme underscores the importance of developing more effective and sustainable educational models grounded in evidence-based practices and knowledge-driven environments.

In this context, Maryam Al Shahi, Physiology Specialist at the Scientific Center for Research and Sports Development at SWS, stated:

“The ‘Excel’ Conference is founded on a solid scientific conviction that movement is a fundamental pillar of holistic health and balanced growth, rather than a secondary component in women’s lives. The focus on integrating movement into education reflects a research-driven and applied direction that contributes to improving physical, mental, and social well-being, while opening the door to more impactful and sustainable educational and sports practices.”

The call for research paper submissions reflects Sharjah Women’s Sports’ commitment to supporting specialized scientific research and strengthening its role within the broader ecosystem of women’s sports development. This initiative aims to foster applied scientific knowledge, advance training pathways, and support the transition from participation to higher levels of professional practice.

The second edition of “Excel” builds on the success of its inaugural conference, hosted in Sharjah in 2024 alongside the seventh edition of the Arab Women’s Clubs Games under the title “Women’s Sports in Sharjah: From Aspiration to Professionalism.” The first edition witnessed broad participation from international experts, academics, and researchers in sports medicine and sports sciences, as well as strong attendance from athletes, coaches, referees, and women’s sports enthusiasts from within the UAE and abroad. That inaugural conference played a pivotal role in establishing “Excel” as a specialized scientific forum addressing key issues related to athletes’ health, performance sciences, and sports medicine, while offering insights and recommendations that reinforced the integration of scientific, medical, and practical dimensions in the advancement of women’s sports.
