12 gold, eight silver and 17 bronze medals underline the depth of achievement across weapons and age categories
Sharjah Women’s Sports Club fencers concluded the 2025–2026 season with an impressive showing at the Fujairah Combined Fencing Championship, held from June 12 to 14, 2026, at Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah. The championship featured Khorfakkan Women’s Sports Club, Fujairah Martial Arts Club, Abu Dhabi Fencing Club and MK Academy, with Sharjah’s athletes securing 37 medals across different weapons and age categories in a season finale that reflected both technical consistency and the growing depth of the club’s competitive base.
The opening day saw strong performances from Sharjah athletes in the U10 and U20 categories. In U10 epee, Sheikha Al Ansari claimed gold, while Athba Saud secured silver. In U10 foil, Fatima Al Baloushi and Reem Al Shaali each added bronze medals.
In U10 sabre, Sharjah Women’s Sports Club dominated the podium, with Habiba Al Hammadi winning gold, Sara Thabet taking silver and Latifa Ali securing bronze. Hessa Al Baloushi also earned bronze in U20 epee, while Shamma Al Muhairi claimed bronze in U20 foil. In U20 sabre, Layan Thabet won gold, followed by Shamma Al Suwaidi with silver and Mahra Al Zarooni with bronze.
The strong results continued on the second day across all three weapons. Zainab Al Nahla claimed gold in U12 epee, while Shaima Al Qaz secured bronze in the same category. Rawda Al Jadi won silver in U17 epee.
In sabre, Noura Al Ketbi took gold in the U12 category, followed by Maitha Al Marzouqi with silver, while Fatima Al Hammadi claimed bronze. Shamma Al Suwaidi won gold in U17 sabre, with Mahra Al Zarooni adding another bronze.
In foil, Touleen Mohsen claimed gold in the U12 category, while Al Reem Al Shamsi took silver and Fatim Al Badwawi secured bronze. Shamma Al Muhairi then closed the day with gold in U17 foil, while Dana Al Shamsi added bronze in the same category.
The third day brought further success in the older age groups. Zainab Al Hosani won gold in the Open epee category, while Touleen Badeer secured bronze. Maryam Al Marzouqi claimed gold in U15 epee, with Jouri Al Ali taking bronze.
In Open sabre, Maryam Al Daghidi won gold, while Mahra Abdullah secured bronze. Noura Al Ketbi and Mahra Al Zarooni also added bronze medals in the U15 sabre competition.
In foil, Zainab Mousa claimed silver in the Open category, while Maya Diab won gold in U15 foil. Touleen Mohsen finished second to take silver, and Al Reem Al Shamsi added bronze.
With an overall tally of 37 medals — 12 gold, eight silver and 17 bronze — Sharjah Women’s Sports Club athletes demonstrated strong competitiveness across all weapons and age categories, from U10 through to the Open division. The results reflect the continued expansion of the club’s fencing base and the success of its development programs in building a progressive and sustainable competitive pathway.
Mai Al Amri, Deputy Director of Sharjah Women’s Sports Club, said the Fujairah Combined Championship provided a strong conclusion to a season filled with competition and achievement.
“This achievement reflects the significant efforts made throughout the season by the athletes, technical teams and administrative staff, and the level of commitment and discipline shown by the players across different competitions,” she said.
“We are pleased to conclude the season in this way, particularly as the results came across a wide range of age categories, reflecting both the breadth of participation and the club’s continued competitive presence. We see this medal tally as further motivation to continue working and build on what has been achieved as we prepare for a new season in which we aim for further development and success.”
Balqees Al Shehhi, Head of the Technical Analysis and Follow-up Section at Sharjah Women’s Sports, said the results reflected a clear level of maturity in the development pathway for fencers across the organization’s clubs.
“This medal tally should not be assessed only by the number of medals, but also by how widely they were distributed across different weapons and age categories, from U10 through to the Open division,” she said.
“That breadth gives us an important indication of the strength of the development pathway and the athletes’ ability to progress gradually through the age groups while maintaining a competitive presence. At Sharjah Women’s Sports, we are building a system that does not focus solely on immediate results, but on creating long-term technical continuity that enables athletes to develop consistently, represent our clubs effectively, and provide the national teams with qualified fencers capable of competing across different events.”
The medal haul brings a strong close to the 2025–2026 fencing season, combining both the volume of results and the diversity of podium finishes across different weapons and age groups. The Fujairah Combined Fencing Championship also confirmed the depth of Sharjah Women’s Sports Club’s competitive base and its ability to translate sustained development programs into results that reinforce the club’s position within the UAE fencing landscape.
