Kalba and Khorfakkan Also Make Their Mark on the Podium
Sharjah Women’s Sports Clubs delivered a strong showing at the Taekwondo Talent Championship, held on Sunday, 26 April 2026, at the Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah. The inaugural edition attracted 445 male and female athletes representing 19 clubs from across the UAE and was designed to identify and develop promising sporting talent.
Sharjah Women’s Sports Club dominated the podium across the different categories, claiming the largest share of medals and securing the first-place trophies in the Girls, Cadets and Juniors categories. The results highlighted the depth of the club’s competitive base and the consistency of its performances across different age groups.
The club’s 17 gold medals were won by Mawar Aisha bint Mohammed, Noon Maryam Mohieddin, Alhan Jassim Mohammed, Ghaneema Mohammed Hassan, Salama Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Alya Nabil Ashour, Menna Fatima Mohieddin, Maria Badr Al Ansari, Retal Ghazi Al Naimat, Salha Saad Al Obaidli, Rania Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Maryam Jassim Mohammed, Fatima Saad Muftah, Salma Najeeb Al Zaabi, Hind Osama Al Salmi, Taleen Willy and Salma Ahmed Al Sayed.
Sharjah’s athletes added 12 silver medals through Haya Mohammed Saleh, Hoor Arif Abdullah, Hamda Yousuf Humaid, Reem Yousuf Humaid, Meera Mohammed Younis, Malak Taysir Al Saadi, Amena Juma Al Kindi, Yomna Yasser Al Karimi, Sheikha Mohammed Al Tunaiji, Maryam Sayed Ahmed, Shamma Mohammed Al Suwaidi and Nouran Hamdi Abdulkarim.
A further nine bronze medals were secured by Maitha Mohammed Younis, Hala Taysir Al Saadi, Maitha Nasser Saeed, Hind Ahmed Al Dhanhani, Al Anoud Ali Saeed, Azza Osama Al Salmi, Rayan Najeeb Al Zaabi, Sadeel Ahmed Al Ahmad and Jannah Yousuf Humaid.
Among the Organisation’s other clubs, Kalba Women’s Sports Club athlete Sheikha Mohammed Ahmed claimed silver, while Alyazia Adnan Abdullah Al Hammadi, Maryam Ibrahim Ahmed, Reem Rashid Saeed Al Zeyoudi, Ghala Mohammed Saleh, Moxiyeh Hussein, Hams Ahmed Ibrahim, Ruqaya Mohammed Al Sharari, Hamda Mustafa Bejal and Afra Majid Essa earned nine bronze medals. The club also secured the third-place trophy in the Cadets category.
Khorfakkan Women’s Sports Club was also represented on the podium, with Fatima Khalid Al Hammadi claiming a silver medal.
The championship forms part of an initiative by the UAE Sports Talent Committee, under the supervision of the Ministry of Sports, aimed at expanding the base of sports participation and identifying promising athletes as part of a national system focused on developing the next generation of sporting talent.
Commenting on the results, Abdullah Hatem, Taekwondo Technical Director at Sharjah Women’s Sports Clubs, said:
“The inaugural Talent Championship featured a high technical standard and strong competition between the clubs, giving the event real value from a technical assessment perspective. Our athletes delivered well-rounded performances that translated into strong results across the categories in which we competed, reflecting the continued development of their overall level.
“What we achieved is the result of sustained work built around structured preparation programmes that combine technical and physical development. This is further supported by participation in external training camps and competitions, alongside a daily monitoring system that ensures balanced progress for the athletes.
“We are developing a promising generation with strong potential, and we will continue working to advance their capabilities, sustain this level of performance and prepare them for higher stages of competition.”
The results reflect the continuity of the technical approach adopted by Sharjah Women’s Sports Clubs in developing young talent and strengthening their presence in age-group competitions, contributing to a strong foundation for the continued growth of women’s taekwondo in the UAE.
