A Year of Movement, A Year of Growth:

The Elite Sports Schools Initiative Concludes 2025 With Two Milestone Gatherings Engaging Over 1,000 Students

Throughout a vibrant and activity-filled academic year, Sharjah Women’s Sports (SWS) continued to strengthen the presence of sport within the school environment through its flagship Elite Sports School Program—an initiative that has become one of the Organization’s most influential platforms for shaping a confident, skilled, and motivated generation.

In the final quarter of 2025, the program witnessed two pivotal gatherings that captured the essence of the year’s work and the depth of its partnership with participating schools. The third gathering, held on 2 October, welcomed 625 students, followed by the fourth gathering, held on 4 and 5 November with 437 students. Together, these two milestones brought together more than 1,000 student-athletes from the American School of Creative Science and the American Emirates School—reflecting the growth of the program and the strong outcomes of the cooperation agreements signed with the schools.

Beyond Activities… Milestones for Evaluation and Growth

The Elite Sports School gatherings represent a core component of SWS’s school partnerships, acting as key checkpoints to evaluate student progress and celebrate their development. Through these agreements, SWS oversees physical education sessions in schools, led by certified coaches and a qualified technical team.

During the third and fourth gatherings, students participated in six key sports: archery, fencing, judo, taekwondo, athletics, and table tennis. Each gathering offered interactive training workshops that blended technical and educational elements, introduced students to the rules and origins of each sport, and highlighted their role in building discipline, resilience, and character.

Both events also featured guided discussions that emphasized confidence-building, teamwork, and adopting sport as a sustainable, healthy lifestyle.

Leadership Voices: A Vision Taking Shape

Commenting on the series of gatherings, Her Excellency Hanan Al Mahmoud, Vice Chairperson of Sharjah Women’s Sports, stated:

“The Elite Sports School Program reflects our vision to transform school sports into a space for learning and personal growth—not an occasional activity. Every training session is an opportunity to build confidence, and every gathering is a step toward a generation capable of balancing academic excellence with athletic achievement. What we saw this year is the result of genuine collaboration between SWS and our partner schools.”

From her side, Alyazia Al Suwaidi, Head of Technical Planning and Monitoring Unit at SWS, highlighted the noticeable progress achieved by students:

“The third and fourth gatherings introduced more advanced training approaches focused on skill development, analytical thinking, and healthy competition. We witnessed meaningful improvements in the students’ technical performance and confidence—clear evidence of the impact of SWS programs within schools. With all four gatherings of the year now complete, we are shifting to a new development plan for the upcoming academic cycle—one that considers the specific needs of each sport and each grade level, and expands the base of active student-athletes. Our goal is for every training experience to inspire and empower.”

Toward an Empowered Generation… A Vision That Looks Ahead

The conclusion of the 2025 gatherings reaffirms Sharjah Women’s Sports’ commitment to promoting a strong sports culture, embedding physical activity in the earliest stages of learning, and supporting the aspirations of young girls across the emirate. This direction aligns with the vision of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of SWS, who champions sport as a foundation for building character and empowering women throughout their journeys.

As the Organization closes a year marked by school-based accomplishments, it moves into the next with a sharper, more ambitious developmental plan—one that elevates the school sports experience to new levels of professionalism and opens wider pathways for today’s students… the athletes of tomorrow.
