SWSC Triumphs at UAE Karate Championship - Individual Kumite with 12 Medals
Sharjah Women’s Sports Club delivered a stellar performance at the UAE Karate Championship - Individual Kumite for Ladies, Under-21s, and Women, held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the Sharjah Individual Games Club, Al Hazana. Competing with a team of 10 athletes, the club secured an impressive 4 gold, 2 silver, and 6 bronze medals, alongside claiming the UAE Championship Cup in the Women’s category.
Outstanding Achievements in the Ladies’ Division
In the under -53 kg category, Lana Osama showcased exceptional skill, clinching the gold medal and further solidifying the club’s dominant position. Her teammate Shatha Bilal secured the bronze medal, underlining the team’s depth and strength. In the under -48 kg category, Joud Mahmoud demonstrated determination to earn a bronze medal, contributing to the team’s overall success.
The under -59 kg category witnessed a standout performance from Mariam Al Batoul, who claimed gold with remarkable precision, while Rinad Mohammed secured bronze in the same category. Additionally, in the under -66 kg division, Aya Fadi Aoun added to the tally with a well-earned bronze medal.
Impressive Show in the Under-21 Division
In the under -61 kg weight class, Jomana Mohammed dominated the competition to win gold, displaying technical excellence and composure. Her teammate Linda Samer rounded off the podium with a bronze medal, further highlighting the exceptional preparation and skill development of the team’s young athletes.
Women’s Division Excellence
The women’s under -61 kg category saw Jomana Mohammed once again rise to the occasion, capturing her second gold medal of the tournament, with Linda Samer following closely to take the silver. In the over +68 kg category, Sarah Saeed displayed remarkable resilience, earning the silver medal, while Sondos Alaa contributed a bronze medal, further boosting the club’s medal count.
Coach’s Statement
Radwa Arafa, head coach of the team, expressed her pride in the athletes’ achievements, stating:
"This championship was an intense and highly competitive event, with participants showcasing advanced technical skills from various clubs. Our players demonstrated unwavering commitment, discipline, and fighting spirit, which were crucial in securing these remarkable results."
