SWS Participates in the Art and Sports Festival at Kshisha Park
Sharjah Women’s Sports Organization (SWS), as a strategic partner, participated in the Art and Sports Festival organized by the Children’s Centers under the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation. The festival took place on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Kshisha Park in Sharjah. This initiative aligns with SWS’s ongoing efforts to promote community sports and identify emerging talents in a vibrant atmosphere that combined entertainment and athletic engagement.
Open Sports Activities for Children
As part of the festival, SWS allocated a dedicated sports area for girls aged 6 to 12. The activities included open training sessions in Taekwondo and Judo, led by trainers and participants from Rubu’ Qarn Training Centers. These outdoor sessions provided children with a unique opportunity to explore these sports, discover their passions, and identify potential talents.
An Inspiring Discussion
SWS also organized an evening panel discussion titled “Why Sports?” which highlighted the importance and benefits of engaging children in sports. The session featured three speakers from Rubu’ Qarn Training Centers and Sharjah Women’s Sports Club, who shared personal stories and inspiring experiences. The discussion captivated the attending girls, motivating them to unlock their athletic potential.
Noura Al Hamr, Head of the Community Sports Department at SWS, emphasized:
“Our participation in this festival aligns with our vision of promoting sports as a lifestyle. Through events like these, we aim to discover promising talents, support the next generation of girls, and provide platforms that inspire them to pursue their athletic interests.”
Scientific Center for Sports Performance Supports the Event
The Scientific Center for Research and Sports Performance Development at SWS also contributed to the festival by setting up a specialized platform for physical assessments. The tests included flexibility, standing long jump, grip strength, and measurements of height, weight, seated height, and leg length.
Dr. Mokhtar Shattara, Director of the Scientific Center, noted:
“These assessments are designed to identify physically gifted children and analyze the physical characteristics of kids in Sharjah. Our goal is to establish precise reference standards that reflect local physical traits, enabling reliable comparisons tailored to the community’s specific context. Through these efforts, we aim to build a comprehensive scientific database that supports the systematic and informed development of community sports.”
Towards an Active Sports Community
Through this event, SWS reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a culture of community sports and advancing women’s sports. This festival represents another step in the organization’s mission to create a vibrant sports community that nurtures the next generation of female athletes while establishing a sustainable sports culture in the emirate.
