A new milestone in promoting sports participation and building a lasting connection with sport<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sharjah Women\u2019s Sports concluded the sixth edition of the Enthusiasts Shooting Challenge, organized by the Community Sports Department on 9 and 10 May at the organization’s headquarters in Al Qulaya. The event brought together 77 participants across the junior girls and women\u2019s categories, continuing to build its profile as one of the department\u2019s increasingly popular initiatives and reinforcing the role of community sport in expanding participation and introducing women and girls to specialized sports within a safe and encouraging environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sixth edition combined training with competition. The opening day introduced participants to the fundamentals of shooting and essential safety requirements, before they moved into competition on the second day across two age categories: junior girls aged 17 and under, and women. The format created broader opportunities for participation while allowing each group to test its skills and build confidence in a supportive competitive setting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Competition in the junior girls category was closely contested, with Sheikha Nawaf Ismail taking first place with 102.5 points, followed by Samar Mohammed Al Zaabi in second with 102.3 points. Yasmine Kashwani finished third with 102 points, in performances that demonstrated a high level of focus and confidence among the participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the women\u2019s category, Altaf Saleh secured first place with 92.1 points, followed by Hamda Mohammed Al Harmoudi in second with 90.8 points, while Khawla Mohammed Al Ali finished third with 90.3 points. The competition reflected the participants\u2019 enthusiasm to make the most of the experience and further develop their skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first-place winners in each category received cash prizes presented by Sharjah Women\u2019s Sports, while the second- and third-place finishers received vouchers provided by Sharjah Cooperative. The prizes reflect the collaboration between the organisation and its partners in motivating participants and strengthening the impact of community initiatives that encourage women and girls to take up sport and continue practising it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Noura Al Hamar, Head of the Community Sports Department at Sharjah Women\u2019s Sports, said the sixth edition of the Enthusiasts Shooting Challenge forms part of the organisation\u2019s approach to developing community events capable of engaging women and girls across different age groups while providing distinctive sporting experiences that promote a culture of participation and allow participants to discover their abilities in a safe and supportive environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAt the Community Sports Department, we are committed to ensuring that our events go beyond competition. We aim to create complete experiences that combine learning and challenge, build self-confidence, develop focus and discipline, and introduce participants to specialised sports in an organised and encouraging setting,\u201d Al Hamar said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWith each edition, the Enthusiasts Shooting Challenge continues to reinforce this approach by preparing participants and introducing them to the fundamentals of the sport before they compete. This helps build their confidence and supports our goal of promoting a sporting culture and making physical activity a more consistent part of women\u2019s lives.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She added: \u201cIntroducing two age categories in this edition made the challenge more inclusive, allowing junior girls and women to participate in an environment suited to their respective abilities. We see this as an important element in broadening participation and encouraging continued engagement in sport.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maryam Kashwani, Community Sports Executive at Sharjah Women\u2019s Sports, also welcomed the success of the sixth edition, noting that the strong turnout and engagement reflected growing awareness of the importance of community sport and its role in building a positive and lasting relationship with physical activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis edition was marked by a clear sense of enthusiasm during both the training and competition days. We saw a genuine desire among participants, particularly the junior girls, to learn and take on a new experience with confidence,\u201d Kashwani said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe believe this level of interest also reflects the momentum created by the organisation\u2019s various programmes and initiatives targeting female students in schools, which have encouraged them to become more involved in sporting activities and explore new experiences. That impact was particularly evident in this edition of the Enthusiasts Shooting Challenge through the enthusiasm and engagement shown by the younger participants.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through its community sports programmes, Sharjah Women\u2019s Sports continues to strengthen the role of sport in the lives of women and girls through diverse initiatives that combine awareness, participation and positive competition.
