Organized by Sharjah Women\u2019s Sports in collaboration with the American University of Sharjah\u2014and supported by the Sharjah Commerce &amp; Tourism Development Authority (Gold Sponsor), Sharjah Cooperative Society, and Beeah Group (Silver Sponsors)\u2014the tournament brought together 197 female students from eight universities and colleges across the UAE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a><\/a><strong>A Campus Stage Fueled by Sportsmanship<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This year\u2019s edition offered far more than a competitive arena; it created a vibrant space where athletic performance, student enthusiasm, and community engagement merged seamlessly. The tournament reflected the Organization\u2019s continued mission to promote sports as a meaningful part of student life\u2014encouraging young women to train, compete, and grow within an empowering academic environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a><\/a><strong>University of Sharjah Claims Both Titles<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Showcasing determination and exceptional teamwork, the University of Sharjah secured first place in both basketball and volleyball.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In basketball, AUS clinched second place, followed by Bath Spa University Academic Centre RAK in third.<br>&nbsp;In volleyball, Bath Spa University Academic Centre RAK placed second, with AUS completing the podium in third place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a><\/a><strong>University Sports\u2026 An Investment in the Future<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Noura Al Hamar, Head of Community Events at Sharjah Women\u2019s Sports, underscored the significance of the tournament within the Organization\u2019s strategic objectives, saying:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThe University Cup reflects our vision of making sports a natural part of students\u2019 daily lives\u2014instilling teamwork, positive competition, and long-term commitment on campus. Through these tournaments, we continue building sustainable partnerships with academic institutions, widening the base of active female athletes, and identifying promising talents across multiple disciplines.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She added:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cFor us, sports are more than a competitive pursuit. They are a way of life that builds belonging, responsibility, and leadership. Events like this empower young women to develop both their character and their aspirations.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a><\/a><strong>Voices from the Court<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Susan Saleh, coach at the American University of Sharjah, described the event as a catalyst for growth:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThe atmosphere was full of excitement and challenge\u2014everyone wanted to excel. Tournaments like this motivate students to adopt sports as part of their lifestyle and nurture teamwork and discipline.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From the volleyball court, Safiya Idris of Al Qasimia University reflected on her debut participation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cWe were proud to represent our university in a tournament bringing together so many competitive teams. The matches were intense and inspiring. Most importantly, we gained new experience in team play and discipline.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a><\/a><strong>Shared Vision and Unified Efforts<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Her Excellency Moza Al Shamsi, Director of Sharjah Women\u2019s Sports, emphasized the long-term purpose behind such initiatives:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cWe believe that a thriving sports culture begins in classrooms and lecture halls\u2014these institutions are where champions are discovered and shaped. By embedding regular physical activity into student life, we support young women in developing confidence and ambition within a motivating university environment.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She highlighted the role of partners:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cIn collaboration with our sponsors and academic partners, we ensured that the top-performing teams received financial awards\u2014recognition that motivates continued participation and healthy competition in future editions.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shaimaa Bin Talayeh, Vice Chancellor for Student Experience at AUS, echoed this sentiment:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cSports are essential to the education we offer. They build confidence, discipline, and teamwork\u2014qualities that define our students academically and professionally, and in their service to the community.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a><\/a><strong>A Tournament Concludes, A Vision Continues<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The conclusion of this year\u2019s University Cup reaffirmed Sharjah Women\u2019s Sports\u2019 commitment to nurturing a generation that views sports as a pathway to empowerment and personal growth.
